Phone calls to China

How to call China from the UK

Including how to call Beijing, Guangzhou, Shanghai, Shantou, Shenzhen, Tianjin and Shenyang.

The People's Republic of China uses the country code +86.

To telephone China from the United Kingdom you need to dial:

0086
then the full national number minus any leading 0

Example

Chinese number: 0581 2345678
Dialled from the UK as: 00 86 581 2345678

Numbers beginning with +86

Sometimes, the number you want to call may already be written out including the +86 country code. For example:

  • +86 581 2345678
  • +86 (0)581 2345678

In such cases, you just replace the '+' with the UK international access code of 00 and ignore any reference to '(0)'. Both the examples above would be dialled as: 00 86 581 2345678.

How do they call me from China?

To call a United Kingdom landline or mobile phone from China, dial 00 44, then the UK number without its leading zero.

For example, the UK number 01632 312829 should be dialled as 00 44 1632 312829 from China.
